Aging backwards is something most people over 40 would love to achieve.  What if I told you there is a way to age backwards and feel more youthful and energetic?  This is what Essentrics exercise has done for many groups of people.  I’d like to tell you more about Essentrics today because many people in Oregon have never heard of it.

Since 1999, Miranda Esmonde-White has taught Essentrics on PBS (under the name Classical Stretch).  Miranda is a retired ballerina from Canada.  She has taught many different groups and seen increases in strength, flexibility, agility, endurance, balance and energy for each group.  From athletes, to injured and debilitated seniors, Essentrics works!  What will Essentrics do for your body?

1) Rebalance your body. Essentrics is a dynamic, full-body workout that simultaneously combines stretching and strengthening, while engaging all 650 muscles.

2) Unlocks tight joints. Rather compressing joints through concentric muscle training, Essentrics works by pulling up and pulling out while stretching and moving. This works to decompress shoulders, backs, hips, feet and fingers.

3) Improve your posture. Essentrics is the only class that works to undo the damage of years of poor posture.  Many people have atrophied back muscles and cannot sit and stand up straight.  Essentrics will strengthen your core and the upper muscles of your body so that good posture is second nature.  Good posture is helpful for your circulation and the optimal functioning of your internal organs.

4) Change the shape of your body. After doing Essentrics for only 6 weeks, I had a noticeable change in my body.  It whittled my waist and lifted and toned by legs and hips.  No other exercise has done this for me!

5) Gives you a noticeable boost in energy.  Essentrics worked my large leg muscles and my feet and ankles.  Now I have so much more energy to zip up stairs and much more endurance while hiking.

6) Relieves pain.  This is huge.  After 1 month of practicing Essentrics, my shoulder and hip bursitis were completely gone.  The stiffness I blamed on old age went away as well.  Essentrics exercise was developed in consultation with Chiropractors and Physical Therapists.  Essentrics is true functional fitness, designed to give you an agile and pain free body.

7) Increase your flexibility and overall strength.

Essentrics is easy to follow and can be adapted to any fitness level.  Every participant can see benefits.  You owe it to yourself to give Essentrics a try!  You can check their website for a listing of certified instructors in your area, or order a DVD or two to begin trying this at home.  http://classicalstretch.com  The Classical Stretch series has 30 lessons in each season set of DVD’s.  Each lesson is 22 minutes long and gives you a good workout, yet it feels really good to your body while you are working the exercises.
